Rotarian Santa Clauses Provide Fantastic Fund Raising Opportunities for Local Groups

Santas Seen in Corby Town Centre
To the great surprise of people in Corby's Town Centre no less
than three Santas were seen on Monday afternoon. "Surely this is
the wrong time of year?" they were asked. But all was soon
revealed.
In fact, the three were not real Santa Clauses but were members
of the Rotary Club of Corby Phoenix dressed up to look as if they
might be the real thing. President Aidan O'Rourke explained, "We
are just starting a major initiative here in Corby and in
surrounding districts to help community organisations such as
schools, churches, clubs, charities and other similar groups to
raise money for their own use. Thanks to Corby Borough Council, on
December 19th, the club will hold a Santa Fun Run and
walk at West Glebe Park. Actually, anyone can participate, men,
women and children, those in wheelchairs, with push chairs and so
on. All we want is for everyone to be dressed in the Santa outfits
that we will supply but individuals will raise their own
sponsorship money, which will be for use by the organisation they
belong to. We'll do everything else except raising the sponsorship.
It's a great opportunity for the members of all these organisations
to raise badly needed funds and have a great deal of fun while
doing it."
The Rotary Club will, on the day, charge a modest entrance fee,
which will cover the cost of the Santa outfit and other
administration costs. Meantime, there will be a great deal of
organisation for members between now and December 19th.
"Everything will be properly done", Aidan continued, "including
organising first aid, refreshments, marshalling and so on. All we
need is that people should enter remembering that they will be
raising funds for their own clubs.
